Art must be interactive &
confrontational
Theatrical plays are based on research about UBUNTU, Queerness, racial & social wealth gap, equality & EQUITY.
As a theatre educator, I view theatre as a dynamic research tool. I examine contemporary issues through a multifaceted lens, which ignites my artistic practices to delve into diverse perspectives. I weave together social commentary with themes of decolonization, non-dualism, and afro-futurism.
This exploration manifests in confrontational and interactive plays, challenging heteronormativity and sparking dialogues within the audience.
My journey was shaped by navigating diverse cultural backgrounds within a predominantly white institution. While acknowledging the initial challenges, I found a collaborative spirit with the head of the department, who shared my vision for fostering inclusivity. Together, we created platforms to explore cultural differences through theatre, a concept that has become the cornerstone of my artistic approach. This collaborative research journey, translating into thought-provoking plays, has equipped me to enter the world as an artist educator committed to fostering understanding and challenging societal norms through the power of theatre.
THIS CONCEPT BECAME MY ALIGNMENT OF HOW I WANT TO DO SINCE THEN TILL (POSSIBLY) MY WHOLE CAREER.
